Tonnetz Sequent is one of Noise Engineering’s most conceptually ambitious modules: a gate-driven triad generator based on neo-Riemannian music theory.
Instead of sequencing notes directly, Tonnetz Sequent sequences harmonic movement, using gate inputs to trigger Parallel (P), Leading (L), and Relative (R) transformations across a tonal lattice, outputting root, third, and fifth as three separate 1V/oct CV signals. This allows you to move through chord space rhythmically, creating harmonically related progressions that feel fluid, unpredictable, and deeply musical.
With transpose, mode shifting, octave modulo, and group transformations, Tonnetz Sequent turns harmonic theory into a playable modular instrument, making it a uniquely powerful tool for generative composition, polyphony, and evolving melodic structures.
