Checking In: Stephen

A while back, we all wrote introductory posts about ourselves for the blog. You all seemed to really enjoy them, so we decided to revisit the series with some life updates and behind-the-scenes of what’s going on in our lives.

Today, we check in with Stephen, the Chief Noisemaker.

How’s it going?

Complicated. 2025 has been a dumpster fire of a year for those of us in Los Angeles and anyone in the US that runs a small business particularly in electronics.

What’s changed since you wrote your intro post?

I have a lot more gray hair.

What’s something fun you’ve been doing outside of work?

Sorta not work related. I've finally started recording more modular jams which apart from debugging usb video issues has been a ton of fun. And I continue to read a lot.

Oh and I've been doing modular jams with a saxophonist.

Where do you find new music/art?

Lately I've been trading links with Ely from Mystic Circuits.

What are you reading these days?

I've been reading the entire back catalog of Daniel Abraham, Adrian Tchalikovsky and Robert Jackson Bennett.

What are you working on that you’re excited about?

Everything, but I can’t talk about it yet!

What are you hoping to work on in the future?

More of everything.

Two blended drinks on a cutting board next to a microplane
And probably more delicious drinks.

What’s your favorite travel destination?

Anywhere quiet with trees that never gets above 80 degrees.

If you had to move somewhere different, where would you want to go?

Somewhere quiet with trees that never gets above 80 degrees. And with no tariffs.
