It’s another Bandcamp Friday this week! It’s been a while, but this Friday is a great time to support your favorite artists. If you’re not sure what to add to your collection, or just want to hear some new music, we’ve picked a few of our favorite records from some talented artists.
Here’s one for the industrial lovers. Decadent Yet Depraved is an album of dark atmospheres and industrial beats, with a meditative feel and a fully synthetic sound. The album is inspired by old school electronica and noise, and while the occasional synth stab evokes the classics, their masterful composition and production brings industrial noise to the modern era. A must listen for any fans of the darker side of beats.
For a more cheerful listen, Ingrid Linnea is a lovely album with a bright and relaxing sound. Based in Gothenburg, Elin Piel creates wonderful recording – sometimes cheerful, sometimes melancholy – on a variety of gear. A majority of this record was recorded to tape, and the distinctive sound of Eurorack and a variety of other boutique gear is a treat for any gear enthusiast.
A classic sound paired with excellent songwriting: Popsick is an energetic, rebellious pop EP. Breaking from our synth-heavy picks so far, this record brings in all the elements you’d expect from a pop record in a fun and upbeat package. If you need some energy or cheer in your afternoon, this is an excellent pick. I wish I could send this record to my highschool self.
If you’ve followed Noise Engineering for a while, you’ve probably heard of Blakmoth. Pioneering doombient, the darkest possible interpretation of ambient music, Blakmoth’s music is distinctive in its haunting, dark timbre and relentlessly drawn-out structure. While ambient music can sometimes fade into the background, Restless Wanderings holds your attention through each track. It’s on regular rotation at NE HQ.
